After a 52-year absence from the world stage, the team made history, March 31, 2026, by defeating Jamaica 1–0 in a dramatic intercontinental playoff to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Currently captained by Chancel Mbemba and featuring stars like Axel Tuanzebe, the Leopards are now preparing to face Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan in Group K of the upcoming finals.
